Liu Wei was born in Ningxiang, Changsha, Hunan, China, in 1987. He attended Ningxiang No. 1 High School. Liu Wei pursued his undergraduate and master's degrees at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, followed by a master's in electrical and computer engineering from Georgia Tech.
Rise to Success
After graduating, Liu, along with his college roommates Cai Haoyu and Luo Yuhao, founded miHoYo. The company was established in 2012 with the goal of creating games based on ACG (anime, comics, and games) culture. Initially, the team faced challenges securing external funding due to the nascent nature of the anime and gaming culture in China at the time.
