Li Zhenguo was born on January 5, 1968, in China. He showed an early interest in science and technology. He graduated from Lanzhou University with a degree in materials science. After graduating, Li Zhenguo worked at the Huashan Semiconductor Materials Factory. These experiences shaped his understanding of materials science and manufacturing processes, which later proved crucial in founding LONGi.
Rise to Success
In 2000, Li Zhenguo co-founded LONGi Green Energy Technology with classmates and his wife, Li Xiyan. Initially, the company focused on supplying reprocessed silicon materials before shifting its focus to the solar industry. Under Li's leadership, LONGi transformed into a leading global manufacturer of monocrystalline silicon solar products. By 2022, LONGi was the world's largest monocrystalline silicon solar maker, employing over 60,000 people. The company expanded internationally, with plans for manufacturing plants in India, Saudi Arabia, and the US. Li's leadership drove innovation in the solar industry and expanded the company into international markets. In May 2025, Li stepped down from his roles as general manager and legal representative to focus on product innovation.
