Li Hongxin was born into a peasant family. At the age of 18, he worked as a porter at a train station. In 1983, he borrowed 30,000 yuan to establish Sun Paper in his hometown of Yanzhou, Shandong Province.

Under Li Hongxin's leadership, Sun Paper has grown from a local paper producer into a global player. The company was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2006.
