Laurent Dassault was born on July 7, 1953, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, to Serge Dassault, a prominent industrialist, and Nicole Dassault. His grandfather, Marcel Dassault, founded the Dassault Group. Laurent was educated at the École Supérieure Libre des Sciences Commerciales Appliquées (ESLSCA) and the Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris II). He also served in the French Air Force.
