Kim Taek-jin was born on March 14, 1967, in Seoul, South Korea. He is the eldest of three children. He graduated from Daeil High School in 1985. Kim pursued higher education at Seoul National University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1989 and a master's degree in electrical engineering in 1991. He began a doctoral program there but did not complete it.
Rise to Success
Kim Taek-jin's career began with his involvement in software development. In 1989, he co-developed the Hangul word processor, demonstrating his early aptitude for software engineering. He worked for Hyundai Electronics' R&D Center in Boston, United States, from 1991 to 1992. Upon returning to South Korea, he founded Aminet, one of the earliest South Korean web portals. In March 1997, Kim founded NCSoft, which would become the cornerstone of his wealth and influence. The company went public in 2003.
