Early Life
Kim Jun-ki was born on December 4, 1944, in Donghae, Gangwon Province, South Korea. He was born into a family with a political background. His father was a politician, and many of his siblings also achieved success in business and politics. He graduated from Kyunggi High School in 1964 and later studied economics at Korea University.
Rise to Success
Inspired by experiences in the United States, Kim withdrew from Korea University and founded Miryung Construction in 1969. Over the next few decades, his company grew significantly, becoming one of the largest in South Korea's construction industry. Kim diversified his business interests by acquiring other companies, which helped him to expand into different industries such as finance, insurance, steel, and chemicals.

In 2024, the DB Kim Jun Ki Cultural Foundation donated $87,000 to Ewha Womans University for scholarships benefiting international students.
