Early Life and Career
K. Dinesh's journey began before the tech boom. He started his career at a government-run electric factory in Bengaluru. In 1981, he co-founded Infosys with N. R. Narayana Murthy and others, leaving behind a secure government job to embrace the world of entrepreneurship. He holds a post-graduate degree in Mathematics from Bangalore University and a doctorate in Literature from the Karnataka State Open University, showcasing his diverse intellectual interests.
Rise to Success in Infosys
K. Dinesh played a pivotal role in Infosys's ascent, serving on the Board for 30 years. He held key leadership positions, including Chairman of Infosys Technologies Australia and Head of Quality, Information Systems, and the Communication Design Group. During his tenure, the company achieved world-class benchmarks in software quality processes, solidifying its reputation in the industry. He retired from the board in 2011.

Philanthropy
After retiring from Infosys, K. Dinesh and his wife Asha dedicated themselves to philanthropy. They established the Ashraya Hastha Trust (AHT) in 2000, along with his father-in-law, focusing on education, healthcare, animal welfare, and agriculture. The trust has made a significant impact, directly or indirectly affecting 60 lakh vulnerable and marginalized people through 98 projects across 27 states in India. Their cumulative philanthropic spending between 2000 and 2023 is ₹111.2 crore (approximately $13.3 million).
