Early Life
Jupally Rameshwar Rao was born on September 16, 1955, in Kudikilla, Mahbubnagar, Telangana, India. He grew up in a low-income farming family and faced financial struggles during his childhood. Despite these challenges, he was determined to achieve more through education, often walking several kilometers to attend school. He aspired to become a homeopathic physician and studied for the same in Hyderabad.
Rise to Success
After completing his studies in homeopathy, he started a clinic in Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad. However, a turning point came when he invested Rs 50,000 in a piece of land, which he sold three years later for Rs 150,000. Recognizing the potential of the real estate sector, he quit his homeopathy practice and ventured into real estate. In 1981, he established My Home Constructions Private Limited, which would become a top real estate company.
Key Business Strategies
Rameshwar Rao's business acumen led to the strategic expansion of My Home Group. He entered the cement industry by founding Maha Cement under My Home Industries Private Limited. One of his key decisions was selling 50% stake in Maha Cement to CRH plc, an Irish firm, for ₹1429 crore in 2008. He further solidified his position by acquiring Sree Jayajyothi Cements in 2013. His company, Maha Cement, is now one of the largest cement producers in South India.

Beyond business, Jupally Rameshwar Rao is known for his philanthropic efforts. He was reportedly among the donors for the construction of the 216-foot-tall Statue of Equality in Hyderabad, which depicts Ramanuja, an 11th-century Hindu philosopher.
