Johnelle Terria DeBusk was born on January 4, 1932, in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Growing up during the Great Depression, she developed a strong work ethic. She attended Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas) with the initial goal of becoming a teacher, but left college before marrying Johnnie Bryan Hunt in 1952.
Rise to Success
Johnelle and Johnnie Bryan Hunt co-founded J.B. Hunt Co. in 1961 in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Initially, the company focused on the rice hull business. In 1969, they expanded into trucking, forming J.B. Hunt Transport Services. Johnelle Hunt held roles such as secretary-treasurer and corporate secretary, contributing to the company's growth into a Fortune 500 enterprise.

Johnelle Hunt's involvement was crucial in the early years of J.B. Hunt Transport Services. She oversaw finances, credit management, and collections, ensuring the company's stability.
