Early Life and Education
Siti Hartati Tjakra Murdaya, born on August 29, 1946, in Jakarta, Indonesia, grew up in a devout Buddhist family. Her father was a journalist. She studied economics at Trisakti University. After graduation, she worked as the general manager in her father's sawmill company.
Rise to Success
In 1972, Hartati married Murdaya Poo, and a year later, she began assisting him in building his business. Together, they co-founded the Cipta Cakra Murdaya (CCM) group of companies in the early 1970s. Initially focused on the electricity and construction sectors, the company expanded into various industries, including real estate, IT, timber, plantations, consumer goods, and engineering. Hartati attended executive programs at Stanford University and the National University of Singapore to further her business knowledge.
Key Business Strategies
CCM's success is attributed to its diversified investments and strategic partnerships with international firms. Hartati's leadership as president director of CCM and her substantial stake in listed property developer Metropolitan Kentjana, where she and her children hold board seats, have been pivotal. She also owns the Jakarta International Expo, a major convention center.

Hartati is also known for her philanthropic efforts. She has been involved in post-disaster relief work and medical missions.
