Early Life and Education
Frederik Paulsen was born on October 30, 1950, in Stockholm, Sweden. He is the son of Frederik Paulsen Sr., the founder of Ferring Pharmaceuticals. Paulsen grew up in Sweden and studied chemistry at the Christian Albrecht University in Kiel, Germany, and business administration at Lund University in Sweden. He also holds a doctoral degree in Demography from Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, France.
Rise to Success
Paulsen's career is deeply intertwined with Ferring Pharmaceuticals. He joined the company in 1976 and held various senior executive positions. In 1983, he became the Managing Director of Ferring AB, Sweden. He later became the Chairman of the Board of Directors from 1988 to June 2021, and was named Chairman Emeritus in July 2021. Under his leadership, Ferring Pharmaceuticals expanded globally.
