Early Life
Born in November 1943, F.C. Tseng is a Taiwanese semiconductor industry veteran. He has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from National Cheng Kung University.
Rise to Success
Tseng began his career at the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan, where he contributed to the territory's first IC project in 1976. In 1987, he co-founded Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) with Morris Chang. During TSMC's early days, Tseng played a crucial role, consolidating the company's internal structure while Chang focused on external market opportunities. He served in various senior leadership roles at TSMC, including President and Vice Chairman. His contributions were recognized, as he was named one of the "Ten Outstanding Engineers" by the Chinese Institute of Engineers in 1991. He was also listed as a "Hot Executive" by Electronic Buyer's News in 1999.
