Early Life
Glenn Russell Dubin was born in 1957 in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan, New York City. He was the first person in his family to attend college, graduating from Stony Brook University in 1978 with a degree in economics. At Stony Brook, Dubin played football and lacrosse. His father was a taxi driver, and his mother worked as a hospital administrator.
Rise to Success
Dubin began his career in finance as a retail stockbroker at E. F. Hutton & Co. in 1978. In 1984, he co-founded Dubin & Swieca Capital Management, which was later renamed Corbin Capital Partners. In 1992, Dubin co-founded Highbridge Capital Management with Henry Swieca. Highbridge became a significant hedge fund, and Dubin sold a majority stake to JPMorgan Chase in 2004 for $1.3 billion. Dubin's business ventures expanded to include founding Engineers Gate Manager LP and becoming the lead shareholder of Castleton Commodities International.
