Early Life

Dmitry Yevgenyevich Rybolovlev was born on November 22, 1966, in Perm, Russia. His parents were both doctors, and he initially followed in their footsteps, studying medicine at Perm Medical Institute, from which he graduated in 1990. He worked briefly as a cardiologist before entering the business world.

Rise to Success

Rybolovlev's career took off in the early 1990s during the privatization of Russian industries. He focused on the potassium fertilizer industry. He acquired shares in Uralkali, becoming chairman in 1995. Under his leadership, Uralkali became a leading global potash fertilizer producer. In 2010, he sold his majority stake in Uralkali for $6.5 billion.

Key Business Strategies

A key strategy was consolidating his control over Uralkali. After selling his stake in Uralkali, he diversified his investments. He invested in real estate, including properties in Monaco and the purchase of the Greek island of Skorpios. Rybolovlev also invested in the Bank of Cyprus. Furthermore, he became the owner of AS Monaco football club, revitalizing the team.

Philanthropy

Dmitry Rybolovlev has supported various charitable initiatives through his family foundation. He was awarded the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov I degree for funding restoration work.
