He came from a family of medical professionals, and following in their footsteps, he earned a medical degree from Perm Medical Institute in 1990, specializing in cardiology. After graduation, he briefly practiced as a cardiologist before entering the business world.
Rise to Success
Rybolovlev's business career began in 1990 when he founded a company offering medical treatments, capitalizing on opportunities during the transition period following the collapse of the Soviet Union. He earned his first million dollars by reselling products in a time when bartering was common practice. He later moved to Moscow, and in 1992, he received a certificate from the Ministry of Finance to work with securities. His early ventures included founding an investment company. His success truly began when he focused on the fertilizer industry, becoming chairman of Uralkali in 1995. He transformed the company into a global enterprise.

Rybolovlev's key business moves included consolidating his stake in Uralkali and leading its expansion. He focused on reforms and development, increasing the company's capitalization substantially.
