Chaitanya Desai, born in 1973, hails from Akota, Vadodara district, Gujarat. He is the son of Makarandbhai Desai. His mother, Maithili Desai, is from the Mafatlal family, a prominent textile clan in Mumbai. He completed his schooling at Vidyakunj High School in Vadodara, passing the science stream examinations in 1992. He later pursued higher education, including a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from The University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts/Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
