Early Life and Education
Carl Reinhold Adolf Bennet was born on August 19, 1951, in Helsingborg, Sweden. He comes from the Swedish noble family of Bennet and holds the title of baron. Bennet earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and an MBA from the University of Gothenburg in 1976. These studies equipped him with the foundational principles for his successful career in strategic investments and corporate leadership.
Career and Achievements
After graduating, Bennet began his career at Kockums and later worked at Electrolux, where he became CEO of the Alingsås unit from 1982 to 1988. In 1989, he founded Carl Bennet AB, a holding company through which he manages and develops various businesses. A pivotal moment in his career was acquiring Getinge AB with Rune Andersson in 1989; Bennet later became the sole controlling shareholder and grew it into a global leader in medical equipment. He also serves as the chairman of Elanders. Bennet is credited with preventing the financial collapse of Boliden AB in the early 2000s.
