Early Life
Sven Hans Martin Lorentzon was born on April 1, 1969, in Åsenhöga, Småland, Sweden. His family relocated to Borås shortly after. Lorentzon grew up in the Hestra quarter of Borås with two older siblings. His mother was a teacher, and his father an economist. Lorentzon attended Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, where he studied industrial economics and earned a Master of Science in civil engineering. He also took courses at the Gothenburg School of Business, Economics and Law, the Stockholm School of Economics, and Stockholm University.
Rise to Success
Lorentzon's career began with an internship at Telia in 1995. In 1999, he co-founded Netstrategy, which later became Tradedoubler, a leading European digital marketing company. He sold his Tradedoubler option in 2005 for $70 million. In 2006, Lorentzon co-founded Spotify with Daniel Ek, using his own funds for initial expenses. Lorentzon served as CEO of Spotify from 2006 to 2013 and as Chairman of the Board from 2008 to 2016.

Lorentzon’s success stems from his foresight in the digital music market. He recognized the need for a legal and user-friendly alternative to music piracy, leading to the creation of Spotify. His early investments and strategic decisions were pivotal in the company's expansion and market dominance. Philanthropy
Lorentzon has contributed to the Swedish innovation ecosystem. He served as a board member of Telia Company from 2013 to 2018. In 2013, he joined Prince Daniel's Fellowship Project, inspiring young people in entrepreneurship.
