Early Life and Education
Brian Higgins was born on October 6, 1959, in Buffalo, New York. He graduated from Buffalo State College with a B.A. in Political Science in 1984 and an M.A. in History in 1985. He furthered his education with an MPA from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1996.
Rise to Success
Higgins's career in finance began at First Boston in 1987. He started in the Merchant Banking Group, working on leveraged buyouts, bridge loans, and recapitalizations. He then joined the Distressed Securities Group. In 1995, Higgins co-founded King Street Capital Management with O. Francis Biondi. The firm focused on distressed debt, a strategy that proved successful and led to the growth of the company, managing approximately $26 billion in assets as of 2024. Higgins currently serves as the Founder, Managing Partner, and Co-Portfolio Manager of King Street Capital Management.
