Early Life
Boris Zingarevich was born on July 8, 1959, in Sebezh, USSR. He graduated from the Pulp and Paper Technological University in Leningrad with a degree in engineering.
Rise to Success
In 1992, Zingarevich, along with his twin brother Mikhail and schoolmate Zakhar Smushkin, founded Ilim Pulp Enterprise. This company grew to become Russia's largest vertically integrated timber firm. In 2006, Ilim Pulp Enterprise became OJSC Ilim Group through a partnership with International Paper. Zingarevich also established Ilim Timber. He invested in Ener1, a company developing energy-storage technologies, and Think Global, an electric vehicle manufacturer.
