Early Life
Boris Gennadyevich Zingarevich was born on July 8, 1959, in Sebezh, Pskov region, USSR. He has a twin brother, Mikhail Zingarevich. Zingarevich graduated from the Leningrad Technological Institute for the Pulp and Paper Industry with a degree in engineering.
Rise to Success
Zingarevich's career began in the pulp and paper industry. In 1992, he co-founded Ilim Pulp Enterprise with his brother Mikhail and Zakhar Smushkin. Ilim Pulp Enterprise grew to become the largest vertically integrated timber company in Russia. In 2006, the company was transformed into OJSC Ilim Group, a joint venture with International Paper Corporation. This strategic move significantly boosted the company's profile and market presence. International Paper sold its 50% stake in Ilim Group to the Russian partners in 2023. Zingarevich also established Ilim Timber in 2007.
