Early Life
Ben Silbermann was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on July 14, 1982. Growing up, he developed a passion for collecting various items, a hobby that would later influence his career. He attended Roosevelt High School and Central Academy before graduating from Yale University in 2003 with a degree in Political Science.
Rise to Success
Before founding Pinterest, Silbermann worked at Google in the online advertising division. He co-founded Pinterest in March 2010 with Evan Sharp and Paul Sciarra. The platform quickly gained popularity, becoming one of the fastest-growing social media sites. The initial public offering (IPO) of Pinterest in April 2019 valued the company at around $12 billion. In June 2022, Silbermann transitioned from CEO to Executive Chairman of Pinterest.
