Early Life and Education
Aziz Akhannouch was born in Tafraout, Morocco, in 1961. He was raised in Casablanca. He completed his secondary education in Casablanca and then pursued higher studies at the Université de Sherbrooke in Canada, where he earned a diploma in management in 1986.
Rise to Success
After graduating, Akhannouch returned to Morocco and became involved in the family business. He took charge of developing the family business, Africa Gas, expanding its activities to become a leader in the hydrocarbons sector in Morocco. Under his leadership, the Akwa Group expanded into various sectors, including petroleum, gas, retail, tourism, media, real estate, and chemicals.

Akhannouch's political career began in the 2000s, when he was elected as an independent to the local council in Tafraout. He later became the President of the Souss-Massa-Drâa regional council from 2003 to 2007. He served as Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries from 2007 to 2021. In September 2021, he was appointed as the Prime Minister of Morocco.
