Early Life and Education
Aziz Akhannouch was born in 1961 in Tafraout, Morocco, and was raised in Casablanca. He completed his secondary education in Casablanca and later pursued higher education in Canada, earning a management diploma from the Université de Sherbrooke in 1986.
Rise to Success
After graduating, Akhannouch joined the family business, Akwa Group, founded by his father. He served as the CEO of Akwa Group, a large conglomerate with diversified interests in petroleum, gas, and chemicals through publicly-traded companies like Afriquia Gaz and Maghreb Oxygene.
Key Business Strategies
Under his leadership, Akwa Group expanded its operations, entered the telecommunications and media sectors, and launched innovative concepts such as Villages Afriquia. Akwa Group is known for its strategic partnerships and investments across various sectors, contributing significantly to Morocco's economy.
Political Career and Philanthropy
Akhannouch's political career began with his involvement in local councils before he joined the National Rally of Independents (RNI) party. He served as Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries from 2007 to 2021, during which he implemented the Green Morocco Plan. In 2021, he was appointed Prime Minister of Morocco.
