Early Life
Anand Deshpande was born in Akola, Maharashtra, and grew up in the BHEL township in Bhopal, where his father worked as an electrical engineer. He was a studious child with a strong academic background, attending Campion School until the 11th grade. Deshpande pursued his higher education, earning a Bachelor of Technology with Honors in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, followed by a Master's and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Indiana University, Bloomington. Before founding Persistent Systems, he worked at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in Palo Alto, California, as a Member of Technical Staff.
Rise to Success
In 1990, Deshpande founded Persistent Systems in Pune with a small initial investment of $21,000. The company initially focused on database solutions. Through strategic investments and a focus on emerging technologies, Persistent Systems grew steadily. Deshpande's vision led the company to expand its services into digital engineering and data and AI products. Persistent Systems went public in March 2010.
