Early Life
Alfred Oetker was born in Toronto, Canada, in 1967, into the well-known Oetker family. As the great-grandson of Dr. August Oetker, the founder of the renowned food brand, he grew up in Bielefeld, Germany, immersed in a culture of entrepreneurship and strong family values. He has three children. His family is also known for internal tensions, particularly regarding wealth distribution. Different views on the strategic direction of the company led to disputes among the heirs, which were sometimes even brought before the courts.
Rise to Success
Alfred Oetker's professional journey began within the family business. He held various positions within the Oetker Group before taking over the management of the food division in the Netherlands. In 2015, he became Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Board of Dr. August Oetker KG. With the reorganization of the company in 2021, Alfred Oetker left the group. Together with his siblings Carl Ferdinand and Julia, he took over the management of Geschwister Oetker Beteiligungen KG, which focuses on business areas such as wine, spirits, chemicals, and luxury hotels. Alfred studied economics at the University of Passau and Oxford. In September 2024, he and his brother Carl Ferdinand bought out their sister Julia from Geschwister Oetker, assuming full control over the company.
