Alberto Bombassei was born in Vicenza, Italy, in October 1940. He is the son of Emilio Bombassei, who co-founded Brembo in 1961 with Italo Breda. Bombassei spent his childhood in Bergamo, Italy.
Rise to Success
Bombassei's career is inextricably linked to Brembo. He joined the company founded by his father in 1961. In 1975, under Bombassei's guidance, Brembo began supplying brakes to Enzo Ferrari for his Formula 1 cars. This marked a pivotal moment, propelling Brembo into the world of motorsports and establishing it as a premier supplier. Bombassei was promoted to General Manager in 1976, Managing Director in 1984, and Chairman in 1993, a position he held until 2021. His strategic decisions and vision were instrumental in Brembo's growth, expanding its operations globally and fostering innovation.
