Abhaykumar Navalmal Firodia was born on November 5, 1944, in Pune, India, into a Jain family. He completed his schooling at The Scindia School, Gwalior, and then pursued a B.E. (Hons.) in Economics at Fergusson College, Pune. Firodia's upbringing instilled in him a strong foundation of ethics and a commitment to societal contributions, traits that have shaped his career and philanthropic endeavors.
Rise to Success
Firodia joined Force Motors (formerly Bajaj Tempo) in 1975 and played a pivotal role in its transformation. He took over the leadership of the company, which was founded by his father, Navalmal Firodia, in 1958. Under his leadership, Force Motors evolved from a light commercial vehicle manufacturer into a fully integrated automobile company, producing a wide array of vehicles and components.
Key Business Strategies
Firodia has focused on innovation, indigenous manufacturing, and strategic partnerships. Force Motors has introduced a range of vehicles, including the Tempo, Matador, and Traveller, which became leaders in their respective segments. The company has also invested heavily in research and development, leading to self-reliance in producing critical components like engines and axles. A key strategy has been forging strong relationships with global automotive players, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Rolls-Royce, for engine and component supply.
Philanthropy
