Zhou Hongyi was born on October 4, 1970, in Huanggang, Hubei, China. Not much is known about his early years and childhood. He holds a Master of Science degree from Xi'an Jiaotong University.
Rise to Success
Zhou's career began with the founding of 3721 in 1998, a search engine that sold Chinese-language keywords, which was later acquired by Yahoo! in 2004 for $120 million. Zhou then headed Yahoo! China's operations. In 2005, due to differences in management, Yahoo sold its China operations to Alibaba, and Zhou left to start Qihoo 360. Zhou is the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Qihoo 360 Technology, one of China's leading internet security companies.
