Early Life
Thomas Kaeser was born in Coburg, Germany, in 1953. He is the grandson of Carl Kaeser Sr., who founded Kaeser Kompressoren in 1919 as a machine workshop. Kaeser comes from a large family, which he credits with teaching him negotiation and solution-finding skills that would prove valuable in his career. After completing his grammar school education at the Coburger Gymnasium Ernestinum, he studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Karlsruhe, followed by trainee positions in France and the USA, and earning a diploma in Business Engineering.
Rise to Success
Kaeser joined his parents' company in 1979 and became a managing partner in 1985. He was appointed Chairman of the Managing Board in 2012. Under his leadership, Kaeser Kompressoren has grown substantially, providing jobs for over 7,500 employees and establishing a network of subsidiaries and distribution partners across more than 140 countries. Kaeser has remained committed to the family business, emphasizing its importance in all aspects of the company’s operations.
