Susan Carol Holland was born in Milan, Italy, in 1956, into a family with a strong entrepreneurial background. Her father, Algernon Charles Holland, founded Amplifon in 1950, a company that would later become a global leader in the hearing aid industry. Holland earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology from Keele University, followed by a Diploma in Logopaedia from the Universita degli Studi di Milano, setting the stage for her career in the field of hearing health.
Rise to Success
Holland began her career as a speech therapist in Milan in 1982. She joined Amplifon in 1988 as a director, playing a key role in the company's expansion. In 1993, she was appointed non-executive vice-chair, and she became chairman in 2011. Under her leadership, Amplifon expanded its operations internationally and increased its market share. She owns 44.9% of Amplifon through her family’s holding company.
