Early Life
Shuo Wang's journey began in Shenyang, China. At age 16, she moved to the United States with her mother, settling in Baltimore, Maryland. To support her family, Wang worked alongside her mother selling scooters at flea markets. This experience instilled in her an early appreciation for sales and entrepreneurship, teaching her the value of offering unique products in a competitive market. Wang's ambition led her to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she studied mechanical engineering with a focus on robotics.
Rise to Success
After graduating from MIT, Wang's entrepreneurial spirit led her to co-found Aeris Cleantec, an air purifier company. Serving as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Wang helped create innovative products that stood out in the market. Aeris Cleantec was later acquired by iRobot in 2021 for approximately $100 million, a pivotal moment for Wang. This success allowed Wang to move forward to her next venture, Deel.
Key Business Strategies
In 2019, Wang co-founded Deel with Alex Bouaziz, another MIT alumnus. Deel streamlined global hiring, helping companies manage payroll, compliance, and HR functions for international employees through a single platform. This solution resonated strongly during the rise of remote work, which Deel facilitated. Wang's strategic vision, combined with her ability to adapt and embrace challenges, has propelled Deel to achieve considerable success. By March 2024, Deel's revenue exceeded $500 million, and the company was last valued at $12 billion in 2021. Wang emphasizes the importance of data-driven decision-making and has cultivated a strong and transparent communication style.
