Sebastian Kulczyk

Early Life

Sebastian Tomasz Kulczyk was born in Poznań, Poland, on November 16, 1980. He is the son of Jan Kulczyk, a prominent Polish businessman who was once the richest man in Poland, and Grażyna Kulczyk. He attended the Karol Marcinkowski High School No. 1 in Poznań.

Rise to Success

Kulczyk's career began at age 19 when he started a network of internet cafes called e24.pl. He later founded GoldenSubmarine, an interactive marketing agency. He gained experience working for Lazard investment bank in London and in the digital media unit of Sony BMG in New York. In December 2013, he became the president of Kulczyk Investments, succeeding Dariusz Mioduski. He also founded Manta Ray VC, which invests in new technologies.

Key Business Strategies

Kulczyk's investment strategy focuses on the new technology sector, with a focus on European companies. He has made significant investments in Polish startups through projects like the InCredibles program. He also initiated the introduction of Singularity University to Poland. Kulczyk's strategy includes divesting from traditional assets to focus on technology-driven ventures, and he took the chemical business Ciech private, renaming it Qemetica in 2024.
