Early Life
Sebastian Tomasz Kulczyk was born on November 16, 1980, in Poznań, Poland. He is the son of Jan Kulczyk, a prominent Polish billionaire businessman who built a vast empire in sectors including energy, real estate, and telecommunications, and Grażyna Kulczyk, a lawyer, investor, art collector, and philanthropist. Kulczyk grew up in a family of entrepreneurs spanning four generations, with early exposure to business principles shaped by his father's successes.
Rise to Success
Kulczyk's career began at age 19 with an internet cafe network called e24.pl. Although the venture failed, he then founded the interactive marketing agency GoldenSubmarine. He gained experience at Lazard investment bank in London and the digital media unit of Sony BMG in New York. In December 2013, he became the president of Kulczyk Investments, replacing Dariusz Mioduski. He is also the founder of Manta Ray VC, an investment firm focused on the new technology sector.
