Rajinder Gupta, born on January 2, 1959, is an Indian industrialist and politician, currently serving as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. He is the Chairman Emeritus and founder of the Trident Group, a major player in home textiles, paper, and chemicals, with a net worth of $1.6 billion as of 2024. From humble beginnings, leaving school at age 14, he built an empire from scratch. His career encompasses diverse leadership roles, including Chairman of the Board of Governors at Punjab Engineering College and the Padma Shri award in 2007 for his contributions to trade and industry. Gupta's career milestones include the founding of Abhishek Industries (later Trident Group) in 1985, and his subsequent expansion into textiles, paper, and chemicals.
