Early Life
Raj Sardana was born in 1960 in Delhi, India, to Punjabi parents who had migrated during the 1947 partition. His early life was marked by modest beginnings, growing up in government housing with limited amenities. Despite these challenges, his parents instilled the values of hard work and prioritized education.
Rise to Success
In 1981, Sardana moved to the United States to pursue a master's degree in mechanical engineering at Georgia Tech. With only around $100 to his name, he supported himself by working at the university cafeteria. After graduation, he worked for Howmet Aerospace and later held a prestigious engineering position at Teledyne CAE, where he worked on engines for Tomahawk missiles. However, when the Cold War ended, and the missile program was terminated, he lost his job. Rather than seeking employment, Sardana decided to embark on an entrepreneurial journey.
Key Business Strategies
With $25,000 in savings, Sardana started his own business. In 1998, he founded American CyberSystems (ACS) in Atlanta, Georgia, focusing on IT services. Over the years, the company expanded significantly, rebranding as Innova Solutions in 2022. The company has over 50,000 employees worldwide. The company generates over $3 billion in annual revenue. Innova Solutions now serves over 1,100 clients, including Fortune 1000 companies. Sardana's strategic vision and ability to adapt to changing market demands were instrumental to his success.
Philanthropy
Throughout the growth of Innova, Sardana has been committed to giving back to communities in need. In 2013, he and his wife, Nita, established the Innova Foundation to support non-profit organizations, including the YWCA's Teen Girls in Technology Program, Women in Technology (WIT), and the Atlanta Food Bank. The Innova Foundation has supported over 175 charitable organizations worldwide, with a focus on women's education and empowerment, elderly care, and supporting children from underprivileged families.
