Van der Does's career began at ING Netherlands as an operational manager. He later transitioned to Elsevier before entering the payments sector in 1999 by co-founding Bibit Global Payment Services. He served as the chief commerce officer at Bibit until its acquisition by Royal Bank of Scotland in 2004. In 2006, van der Does co-founded Adyen with Arnout Schuijff.
