Early Life
Pan Shiyi was born on November 14, 1963, in Tianshui, Gansu Province, China. His family experienced hardships, and he pursued vocational education in petroleum-related fields. He graduated from Hebei Technical College of Petroleum Profession in 1984.
Rise to Success
In the late 1980s, Pan Shiyi ventured into real estate. In 1995, he co-founded SOHO China with his wife, Zhang Xin. Under his leadership, SOHO China developed numerous iconic commercial properties in Beijing and Shanghai, becoming one of the largest prime office developers in China. SOHO China was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2007.

Pan Shiyi stepped down as chairman of SOHO China in 2022 to focus on philanthropy and supporting the arts.
