Norbert Dentressangle was born on July 9, 1954, in Annonay, France. He grew up in Vocance, where his parents ran a small transport business. He joined the family business in 1974, which was then based in Saint-Vallier.
Rise to Success
In 1979, at the age of 25, Dentressangle founded ND European Transport Ltd in London. The company initially focused on cross-channel transport between France and the UK. Under his leadership, the company expanded rapidly across Europe. In 1994, Norbert Dentressangle SA was listed on the Paris stock exchange. The company grew through strategic acquisitions, including Christian Salvesen in 2007 and TDG in 2011. In 2014, Dentressangle acquired Jacobson Companies for $750 million. Sales reached €5 billion that year.
