Early Life and Education
Nathan Blecharczyk was born in 1983 and grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. During his high school years at Boston Latin Academy, he demonstrated an early entrepreneurial spirit by creating a software business. He continued writing programs while attending Harvard University, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science. He also worked on the business staff of The Harvard Crimson.
Rise to Success
In 2008, Blecharczyk co-founded Airbnb with Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia. He served as the company's first Chief Technology Officer, playing a crucial role in the company's early success. He coded the company's original website using Ruby on Rails and oversaw Airbnb's expansion into Cuba in 2015. In 2017, he became the company's chief strategy officer and was also named chairman of Airbnb China. Airbnb went public in December 2020.
