Nathan Blecharczyk was born in 1983 in Boston, Massachusetts. Growing up in an upper-middle-class family, he developed an early interest in computer programming. At age 12, he began teaching himself to code, mastering programming skills that would later prove invaluable. He graduated from Boston Latin Academy in 2001 and went on to Harvard University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 2005.

After graduating from Harvard, Blecharczyk held engineering positions before co-founding Airbnb in 2008 with Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia. He served as the company's first Chief Technology Officer, building the initial technical infrastructure. Blecharczyk's role evolved, and he became the Chief Strategy Officer and Chairman of Airbnb China.
