Nandan Nilekani

Early Life

Nandan Nilekani was born in Bangalore, India, on June 2, 1955. His parents were Konkani from Sirsi, Karnataka. He attended Bishop Cotton Boys' School and St. Joseph's High School in Dharwad. He received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

Rise to Success

Nilekani began his career at Patni Computer Systems in 1978. In 1981, he co-founded Infosys with N.R. Narayana Murthy and five others, starting with an initial investment of $250. He served as the CEO of Infosys from 2002 to 2007, during which the company's revenue grew significantly. In 2009, he became the chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and spearheaded the Aadhaar project.
