Mofatraj P. Munot was born in a small village in Maharashtra, India, in 1944. He received his education in Mumbai, earning a degree in civil engineering from the University of Mumbai.
Rise to Success
After completing his education, Munot began his career as a civil engineer before founding the Kalpataru Group in 1969. Under his leadership, the Kalpataru Group has become a leading real estate development company in India, with projects spanning residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors. Munot's company is known for several industry firsts, including eco-friendly practices and innovations. His company built Mumbai's tallest residential building in the 1970s, a record held for 25 years, and also constructed the palace of the ruler of Sharjah.
Key Business Strategies
Munot's business acumen led to securing lucrative construction contracts during the 1970s oil boom in the Middle East. His company's flagship project today is an 11.2-million-sq ft township in Mumbai. Munot has expanded the group's interests to Power Transmission and Infrastructure EPC, Civil Contracting, Property and Facility Management, and Logistics and Warehousing Services. Kalpataru is now run by his son, Parag Munot.
