Early Life
Mofatraj P. Munot was born in a small village in Maharashtra, India, in 1944. He completed his education in Mumbai, earning a degree in civil engineering from the University of Mumbai.
Rise to Success
After graduating, Munot began his career as a civil engineer, working for several construction companies before founding the Kalpataru Group in 1969. Under his leadership, Kalpataru Group has become a leading real estate development company in India, with projects spanning residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors. Munot's strategic vision propelled the group to a Rs. 10,000 crore infrastructure conglomerate. He also secured lucrative construction contracts during the 1970s in the Middle East, including building the palace of the ruler of Sharjah.
Key Business Strategies
Munot expanded the group's interests beyond real estate to include power transmission, infrastructure EPC, civil contracting, property and facility management, and logistics and warehousing services. His focus on innovation, quality, and ethical business practices has been central to the company's success. His son, Parag Munot, is currently the Managing Director of Kalpataru Limited.
Philanthropy
Mofatraj Munot is also recognized for his philanthropic work, establishing the Mofatraj Munot Hospital in Pune, which provides free healthcare services to underprivileged communities. He is a trustee of The Munot Foundation, which organizes initiatives in education and healthcare.
