Early Life and Education
Mikhail Lomtadze was born in Batumi, Georgia, on October 17, 1975. He obtained a BBA degree from the European School of Management in Georgia in 1997. He furthered his education with an MBA from Harvard Business School in 2002. While in university, he started a consulting company, later selling it to Ernst & Young.
Rise to Success
Lomtadze's career began in financial and investment institutions. In 2006, he became a board member of Caspian Bank in Kazakhstan. He joined Baring Vostok Capital Partners and became a partner. He took the helm of Kaspi (formerly Caspian Bank) as CEO after Baring Vostok invested in the company in 2006. Under Lomtadze's leadership, Kaspi transformed into the largest fintech company in Kazakhstan. Kaspi.kz went public on the London Stock Exchange in October 2020.
