Early Life and Education
Matthias Daniel Reinhart, born in August 1960, is a Swiss entrepreneur and business executive. He studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), graduating in 1986 with a lic. oec. HSG degree. Following his education, he worked for five years at McKinsey & Company in Zurich and Chicago, gaining valuable experience in the consulting field.
Rise to Success
In 1993, Reinhart co-founded VZ VersicherungsZentrum AG, later known as VZ VermögensZentrum AG, with his business partner Max Bolanz. The company was established as an independent, fee-only financial advisor, aiming to bring transparency to the Swiss insurance and banking industries. As CEO, Reinhart oversaw the expansion from insurance intermediation into holistic financial advice, asset management, and banking services.
Key Business Strategies
VZ Group's key proposition focuses on providing independent advice and bringing transparency to the financial market. The firm charges fees for advisory services and asset management, avoiding conflicts of interest by not brokering financial products. This strategy has allowed VZ Group to build trust with its clients, primarily targeting individuals and couples aged 50 or above, helping them prepare for retirement. The company's expansion strategy included entering the German market and establishing a fintech presence with a robo-advisor in 2009.
Philanthropy
While specific amounts are not readily available, Reinhart has been involved in philanthropic efforts. He serves on the founding board of the Swiss Epilepsy Foundation and is a member of the advisory board of NZZ (Neue Zuercher Zeitung).
