Early Life
Mark L. Attanasio was born on September 29, 1957, in the Bronx, New York. He is the son of Connie and Joseph Attanasio. His great-grandparents were Italian immigrants. Attanasio grew up in Tenafly, New Jersey, and attended high school there. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University in 1979 and a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School in 1982.
Rise to Success
Attanasio's career began in law before transitioning to investment banking at Drexel Burnham Lambert in the mid-1980s. In 1991, he co-founded Crescent Capital Group, an alternative asset management firm based in Los Angeles. He has been an accomplished investment management executive for more than 35 years. His business acumen led to significant financial success. In 2004, Attanasio bought an estimated 45% stake in the Milwaukee Brewers for approximately $220 million.

As chairman and principal owner of the Milwaukee Brewers, Attanasio has focused on creating a positive and successful environment. He has invested significantly in American Family Field, the Brewers' home stadium, to enhance the fan experience. Attanasio's leadership extends to MLB's Investment Committee, where he serves as chairman. Additionally, he is an investor in the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League and Norwich City Football Club.
Philanthropy
Attanasio is committed to the Brewers Community Foundation (BCF). In 2024, BCF provided over $4.5 million in grants and scholarships to approximately 200 local non-profits, supporting healthcare, education, recreation, and basic needs. The foundation also donated over 91,000 game tickets to 218 organizations in 2024. Moreover, he holds positions on several not-for-profit boards, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and Harvard-Westlake School.
