Madeleine Olsson Eriksson was born on August 25, 1945, in Gothenburg, Sweden. She is the daughter of Sten Allan Olsson, the founder of Stena Sphere. Growing up in a shipping family, she was the oldest child and the only daughter, later attending Karolinska Institute in Stockholm to study medicine.
