Early Life and Education
Lin Bin was born in Guangzhou, China, in February 1968. He demonstrated academic excellence from a young age, attending Guangdong Experimental School. Lin graduated with a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering from Sun Yat-sen University in 1990. He furthered his education by earning a master's degree in computer science from Drexel University in 1992.
Rise to Success
Lin's career began as a network engineer at ADP Inc. in 1993. He then joined Microsoft Corporation in 1995, where he held various positions. In 2006, he became an engineering director at Google and later served as the Vice President of Google China's Engineering Research Institute. In 2010, Lin co-founded Xiaomi with Lei Jun, initially serving as the company's president until 2019. Xiaomi quickly grew from a startup into a global leader in consumer technology. The company completed its initial public offering on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2018.

During his tenure as president, Lin Bin oversaw key areas such as recruiting, legal affairs, finance, strategic partnerships, and international expansion. Under his leadership, Xiaomi focused on producing affordable, high-quality hardware and building a strong software ecosystem. Xiaomi has expanded into the electric vehicle market, launching the SU7 sedan in 2024.
Philanthropy
Lin Bin established the Bin Lin and Daisy Liu Family Foundation in 2020, focusing on education and health initiatives. In 2020, he donated 120 million Xiaomi shares to the foundation.
