Early Life
Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai was born on January 7, 1958, in Titi, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. He grew up in a family involved in the rubber trading business, exposing him to the industry from a young age. Rise to Success
After working as a sales executive at OYL Industries in 1982, Lim co-founded Top Glove Corporation Bhd in 1991 with his wife, Puan Sri Tong Siew Bee. Starting with one factory and one production line, Top Glove expanded rapidly. The company went public on Bursa Malaysia in 2001 and became the world's largest glove manufacturer by 2004. His leadership has driven Top Glove's growth into a multinational enterprise operating 51 factories. The company has expanded to become a global leader in glove production, serving over 2,000 customers in 195 countries.
Key Business Strategies
Lim's strategic focus on operational excellence and visionary planning has been pivotal in establishing Top Glove's dominance. The company's early listing on Bursa Malaysia in 2001 enabled capital raising and accelerated growth. The company also launched a secondary listing on the Singapore Exchange in 2016, enhancing its international investor base. Top Glove has continually focused on producing high-quality gloves at a low cost.
