Early Life
Hermanto Tanoko was born in Malang, East Java, on September 17, 1962. Growing up, he assisted his parents in their dry goods and paint shop, learning the fundamentals of business from a young age. His early experiences instilled a strong work ethic and an understanding of profit margins. He started helping manage his parent’s pharmacy at 14 years old.
Rise to Success
After completing his education at STIE IBMT School of Management, Surabaya, Hermanto joined the family business, PT Avia Avian, in 1982. Under his leadership, Avia Avian, now known as Avian Brands, expanded significantly, becoming one of Indonesia's largest paint manufacturers. The company went public in 2021. Besides Avian Brands, Hermanto established Tancorp, a holding company with interests in various sectors, including manufacturing, retail, and property. Hermanto has also invested in other companies such as PT Sariguna Primatirta, the maker of Cleo bottled water.

He focused on developing new products and expanding Avian Brands' distribution network. He also expanded his business ventures, including investments in property and retail.
