Hermanto Tanoko was born on September 17, 1962, in Malang, East Java. He grew up in a family of entrepreneurs. In 1978, his father, Soetikno Tanoko, began a paint production business in Sidoarjo. Hermanto joined the company after graduating from STIE IBMT Surabaya, working alongside his brother, Wijono Tanoko. Together, they expanded Avia Avian, transforming it into a leading paint manufacturer in Indonesia. The company went public in 2021, marking a significant milestone in its growth. Hermanto also founded Tancorp, a business group that encompasses various sectors including retail, manufacturing, and property. Tancorp is the parent company of various businesses, including Avia Avian. In July 2024, Lightweight Brick Manufacturer Superior Prima Sukses, where he owns a stake, went public in a deal that values it at $100 million.
