Early Life and Education
Harindarpal Singh Banga, also known as Harry Banga, was born in Amritsar, India, and raised in Chandigarh. He received his early education in Chandigarh before pursuing maritime studies at the Training Ship Dufferin, the oldest maritime academy in India. He earned his Master Mariner certification in 1976 at the age of 26, allowing him to command merchant vessels. By the age of 27, he was already commanding merchant vessels. His family instilled in him core principles of humility, honesty, and integrity.
Rise to Success
Banga began his professional career in the maritime industry, joining the Hong Kong-based Gulf Group in 1979 as an Operations Manager. In 1989, he co-founded Noble Group Limited, where he rose to Vice Chairman. He spent over two decades helping to develop it into a significant player in global commodity supply chains. He played a crucial role in establishing and leading Noble Chartering Limited and is widely credited as the driving force behind much of Noble's success. In 2010, he stepped down as Vice-Chairman but remained on the Board as Vice-Chairman Emeritus. In 2013, Banga founded The Caravel Group Limited, where he currently serves as Chairman and CEO. In 2011, he acquired Fleet Management Limited, the ship management subsidiary of Noble Group.
