Early Life
G.V. Prasad was born in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India, in 1960. He attended Vidyaranya High School in Hyderabad and VR High School in Nellore. He studied chemical engineering at Alagappa College of Technology and later at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1982. He pursued an MBA at Purdue University in 1983.
Rise to Success
Prasad's career in pharmaceuticals began in 1985 when he co-founded Benzex Labs, an API manufacturing company, later acquired by Dr. Reddy's Laboratories. He then served as CEO and MD of Cheminor Drugs Ltd. from 1990. In 2001, Cheminor Drugs merged with Dr. Reddy's, and Prasad became the Vice-Chairman and CEO. Under his leadership, Dr. Reddy's expanded globally, focusing on innovation and ethical practices. His focus on innovation led to the launch of new business platforms and expansion into regulated markets.
