Gleb Gennadievich Fetisov was born on June 5, 1966, in Elektrostal, Moscow Oblast, Russia. He graduated with honors from the Faculty of Economics at Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1988. He later earned a doctorate in economics from the same institution. Fetisov's academic background includes a PhD and a professorship in economics and finance.
Rise to Success
Fetisov began his career in the financial sector, holding key positions in various banks and investment firms. He joined Mikhail Fridman's Alfa Group in 1995, where he later led the group's takeover of an aluminum plant in Siberia. Fetisov served as a member of the Federation Council from 2001 to 2009. He built his wealth through strategic investments in banking and telecom, among other sectors. In 2014, Fetisov sold all his business interests, including a stake in Vimpelcom, for approximately $1.4 billion.
