Dmitry Mazepin was born on April 18, 1968, in Minsk, Byelorussian SSR, Soviet Union. He graduated from the Suvorov Military Academy in Minsk in 1985. He then served as a military interpreter in Afghanistan between 1986 and 1988. In 1992, he graduated from the MGIMO University's Department of Economics. He earned a PhD from the Saint Petersburg Institute for Economics and Management in 2012.
Rise to Success
Mazepin began his career in business, holding executive positions at Russian companies like TNK and Sibur. He served as the CEO of the insurance company Infistrakh from 1992 to 1993. In 2007, he founded Uralchem, which combined all his assets. He also acquired a 20% stake in Uralkali, the world's largest potash producer, in 2013.
