Early Life and Education
Dmitry Arkadievich Mazepin was born on April 18, 1968, in Minsk, Byelorussian SSR, Soviet Union. He graduated from the Minsk Suvorov Military School in 1985 and subsequently served as a military interpreter in Afghanistan between 1986 and 1988. He later graduated from MGIMO University's Department of Economics in 1992.
Rise to Success
Mazepin's career began in the financial sector. He served as CEO of the insurance company Infistrakh from 1992 to 1993. He then held executive positions at Falkon Bank. His major corporate assignments began in 1997 when he was appointed vice president of TNK, the Tyumen Oil Company. He acquired his first fertilizer manufacturer in 2004 and founded Uralchem Group. In 2007, he combined all assets under his control to form Uralchem United Chemicals Company. Mazepin acquired a 20% stake in Uralkali, the world's largest potash producer, in 2013.
