Early Life and Education
Dmitry Arkadievich Mazepin was born on April 18, 1968, in Minsk, Byelorussian SSR, Soviet Union. He graduated from the Suvorov Military Academy in Minsk in 1985. He served as a military interpreter in Afghanistan from 1986 to 1988. In 1992, he graduated from the MGIMO University's Department of Economics. He also holds a degree from the Saint Petersburg Institute for Economics and Management.
Rise to Success
Mazepin started his career in the financial sector, holding positions in various banks. His business career gained momentum when he took executive roles at major Russian private and government-owned companies like Nizhnevartovskneftegaz and Sibur. In 2004, he founded Uralchem Group. Through Uralchem, Mazepin acquired significant stakes in several chemical and fertilizer companies. In 2013, Uralchem acquired 20% of Uralkali.

A key strategy was acquiring stakes in chemical and mineral fertilizer companies, which consolidated under the Uralchem Group. He also served as the Chairman of the Russia-Zimbabwe Business Council, aligning with a strategy to expand influence.

Mazepin was listed as one of Russia's most charitable billionaires by Forbes in 2013. In 2012, he spent $700,000 on charitable causes. He also founded a foundation, "We compete as one", to help athletes who have been barred from competing for political reasons.
