Early Life

Daniel Truett Cathy was born on March 1, 1953, in Jonesboro, Georgia. He is the son of S. Truett Cathy, the founder of Chick-fil-A. Growing up, Dan Cathy was involved in the family business, starting his career in the restaurant industry by doing radio commercials for his father's restaurant.

Rise to Success

After graduating from Georgia Southern University with a degree in business administration, Cathy officially joined Chick-fil-A as director of operations. Over the years, he took on different leadership positions within the company. In 2013, Dan Cathy was promoted to chairman and CEO of Chick-fil-A.
